High Potential Women Leaders Program

Kick-start your journey to success with our empowering program, designed specifically for women. The program starts by looking at you – your strengths, your motivation and your direction. It challenges the perception that women need to compete with men and advocates an authenticity and pro-active approach to your career management.

Leading others is the next theme explored, offering insights into leadership and gender, developing your skills in motivating, influencing and negotiating with others. The final day covers the essential understanding required to see business as an alignment of different functions.

Throughout the program participants will build an action plan for driving their career and evolving their leadership style to meet their aspirations. The program includes insights from guest speaker Lauren Brown (2010 winner of the Telstra NSW Young Business Women of the Year) and a panel of dynamic, successful young business women.

The High Potential Women Leaders Program will assist women to enhance their skills and recast their mindset to take on the challenges of leadership.

Who Should Attend

Typically the participants will be women who are experienced - at least two years working - and are considering their needs as they plan and build their leadership capabilities. MGSM invites all women who are new leaders and high potential women who are ready for a career advancement - the next generation of leaders. Women from both the private and public sector will benefit from the networking and peer learning aspect of the program.

The Program is aimed at women who want to lead, including:

  • women who are ready to step up to the next challenge in their career
  • women new to a role in management
  • women considering opportunities to complete further studies in management and business
  • technical specialists or professionals who are considering their career options
  • women who wish to take ownership of their career and build skills, resilience, networks and contacts

Course outcomes

The program will tap into the personal motivation and desires of each participant and examine the issues they face in their professional and personal development, building their capability in the fundamentals of people and business management. A strong development program for female leaders and emerging talent can underpin a business’s success and future.

This MGSM program aims to support women based on the assumption that the leadership skills required are the same for both male and female professionals, but the specific needs of women needs to be addressed from a different perspective. As a participant you will:

  • clarify your goals and  leadership aspirations
  • learn more about the diversity and gender issues that hamper organisational change
  • take a pro-active approach to career management
  • recognise the self-transformation required for your advancement
  • develop a deeper authenticity in leadership and interactions with others
  • handle more complex business situations with less anxiety
  • foster and maintain supportive networks.

"Wanting to lead and believing you can lead are only the departure points on the path to leadership. Leadership is an art, a performing art. And, in the art of leadership, the artist’s instrument is self. Ultimately, leadership development is a process of self-development".

KOUZES & POSNER, July 2008, The Leadership Challenge, 4th edn.
