Higher Degrees/PhD

For knowledge to make a difference, it must be nurtured, promoted and aligned with industry practice.  Doing this is what makes MGSM’s doctoral community internationally renowned for research.  With over 100 full-time and part-time students, ours is also one of the largest business school-based doctoral communities in the Asia Pacific region.

Successful candidates have a clear area of research they are passionate about pursuing, a suitable, specialised supervisor and appropriate academic qualifications or experience. Available higher degrees in research, administered by Macquarie University, include:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
  • Master of Philosophy (MPhil)

While we consider applications from excellent candidates across a wide variety of management disciplines, our research strengths lie in a number of core areas.

Regardless of whether an academic career path is your calling or it’s a contribution to advancing a particular area of management practice you wish to create, our supportive intellectual climate makes this possible.

The Single Unit course Leadership and Motivation is exactly what I expected, thorough, comprehensive, based on sound research and modeling, and having very practical application in a business environment; I was not disappointed. The new tools / models that I learnt about in the course, will be invaluable in augmenting the management practices in my organisation, in the years to come.
