Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Ranked among the world’s top 100 MBA programs (The Economist Which MBA 2011), an MGSM Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a learning experience that is both invigorating – and invaluable.

Providing a strategic business perspective and a complete grounding in the core elements of general management, this program extends, challenges and ultimately, transforms today’s management professional.

You will emerge a potential leader of the future, by focusing on the competitive advantages of enterprise and learning how to manage functional areas and the language they use (not their technical performance).

As flexible as it is dynamic, this program is designed to suit professionals with high management and leadership promise, who already hold positions of responsibility.

You can complete the MBA in one year of full-time study or two to three years part-time. Regardless of the structure you choose, the 16-course unit program is exactly the same.

Program Details

The MBA can be completed in one year of full-time study, or two to three years of part-time study, depending on timetable availability.

Each course unit involves 40 hours of face-to-face lectures, and an additional workload of up to 140 hours over the 10-week term. Students spend this time preparing for lectures, projects, presentations and exams, as well as completing individual and group assignments.

The MBA Program is available at our North Ryde, Sydney CBD and Hong Kong campuses.

Entry Requirements

Students should have an undergraduate degree and a minimum of two years’ relevant work experience (managerial or professional) for direct entry into the MGSM MBA.

Alternatively, you may transfer to the MBA Program after successfully completing the Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma (providing you have a first degree) and/or the Master of Management.

If your recognised studies were not taught in English, you will need to demonstrate your language proficiency. For details of the recognised courses and scores required, visit see our International Students section.

Internship

MBA students have the opportunity to develop valuable management skills through a 10-week (one MGSM term) project-based internship. This provides practical experience in an Australian organisation and real exposure to management issues and challenges.

Applications for internships are assessed on a competitive basis, including interviews with both the School and sponsoring organisation. You must have successfully completed a minimum of six units of your program to be eligible.

Undertaking postgraduate studies is a big time commitment and flexibility is a key issue for me. MGSM provides me with the opportunity to learn at two different locations, on block release and/or lectures and the ability to articulate as I progress - these attributes are incredibly valuable to me. MGSM provides this.
