Master of Management
Detailed insights into a specific field of management are the defining feature of the Master of Management (MOM).
Over the course of 10 units, you can delve more deeply into your chosen subject area than is possible via a Postgraduate Diploma in Management via the ability to select two elective units.
This program fully prepares you for either a generic senior management position, or a senior management position within a certain field, whether it’s marketing, finance or another function you aspire to lead.
Program Structure
Foundation Units
The MOM course includes eight carefully selected foundation units that are designed to give you the core skills required to function as an effective leader. The foundation units within the MOM are:
- Accounting for Management
- Marketing Management
- Organisational Behaviour
- Strategic Frameworks
- Information and Decision Analysis
- Economic Context of Management
- Financial Management
- Operations Management.
Elective Units
In addition to these core units, you can choose two elective units to tailor your qualification, allowing you to delve deeper into your chosen subject area than is possible via the PGD.
More information on foundation units and electives is available in our unit directory.
Program Details
The MOM in General Management can be completed in nine months of full-time study or 18 months to two years of part-time study, depending on timetable availability.
Each course unit involves 40 hours of face-to-face lectures, and an additional workload of up to 140 hours over the 10-week term. Students spend this time preparing for lectures, projects, presentations and exams, as well as completing individual and group assignments.
The MOM is available at our North Ryde, Sydney CBD and Hong Kong campuses, however the available elective units on offer may vary across countries.
Entry Requirements
Prospective students should have an undergraduate degree and a minimum of two years’ relevant work experience (managerial or professional) for direct entry into this program.
You can also progress to the Master of Management after successfully completing the Postgraduate Certificate in Management (if you have an undergraduate degree) or a Postgraduate Diploma in Management.

Commencing the Post Graduate Certificate with MGSM was not something I took lightly given other life commitments, however with effective time management the benefits of the course have far outweighed the commitment. The subjects have certainly been stimulating, thought provoking and challenging and the lecturers professional and engaging, so much so that I plan to continue study beyond this course.
