MGSM leads the way in providing responsible management education
MGSM became a signatory school of the United Nations supported Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) in 2010. Since then MGSM has undergone some substantial changes in the way that we do and teach business.
PRME was launched by the United Nations Global Compact to inspire and champion responsible management education around the globe, and since our mission is to develop leaders with a global mindset who create sustainable value and are good citizens, it was natural for us to become a PRME signatory school.
As part of our commitment to PRME, we share information on our progress towards this important goal. In 2011, MGSM’s Faculty Leader of Global Citizenship, Dr Debbie Haski-Leventhal, wrote a comprehensive report outlining our progress.
This progress has seen a number of positive changes within the School, including the redefining of the school’s mission statement and vision, modification of the curricula to better include responsible and ethical management concepts, the recruitment of new faculty whose field of research sit within these areas, the development of new partnerships with corporations, not-for-profits and governmental institutes to support these goals, and engagement in community outreach for a stronger social impact.
This report underlines MGSM’s commitment to the PRME principles and hopes to further encourage collaboration and dialogue between a network of signatory schools.
Additionally, Dr Debbie Haski-Leventhal has led a global study together with PRME on MBA students’ perceptions and attitudes on corporate social responsibility which will be presented in the UN Global Forum in Rio in June 2012.
