Key Strengths

Prestigious International Reputation

MGSM has an international reputation for excellence in management education and is consistently ranked by the London Financial Times, Economist FT MBA Survey, Australian Financial Review AFR BOSS Magazine and MBA Career Guide as a leading business school in the Asia-Pacific region.

Contemporary and Practical Programs

The contemporary, practical and relevant content of all MGSM programs ensures executives gain immediate benefits that can be directly applied to the workplace.

Through the use of work-related projects, focusing on an issue within the individual's own or chosen organisation, the transfer of learning is enhanced and executives can link their activities at MGSM to "real-world" situations.

Quality Faculty

The quality of a business school's faculty is considered a major determinant of the School's standing in the business community.  With an outstanding complement of 25 dedicated full-time faculty, and part-time faculty and presenters, MGSM can offer a unique diversity of academic expertise and knowledge.

MGSM's talented faculty are committed to rigorous academic quality and excellence in teaching and research.  Our academics are highly qualified with extensive industry experience, combining business and academic life, and are constantly working to stay abreast of the latest research, theories and knowledge within their chosen fields of specialisation

Quality Students

One of the more important criteria to consider when assessing a business school is the quality of the students and participants it attracts. A significant amount of learning on any program takes place during class or group discussions and through interaction with fellow students.

At MGSM, the student profile offers many distinct advantages. Participants are generally more mature than at other business schools, with substantial work and life experience to draw upon during a program.

Flexibility and Understanding

MGSM understands that flexibility is vital for busy managers and professionals and MGSM programs are designed to be as flexible as possible.

  • Lectures are offered in either a weekly format (one night per week over the 10 week term) or block format (two weekends within the 10 week term).
  • Flexible entry levels - Participants can choose to enter the programs at a lower level, successfully complete and articulate through to the higher levels in their own time
  • Participants are able to take a break in their study and return when convenient for them, with up to 10 years from the date of enrolment to complete the MBA
  • 4 intakes per year for part time students
  • MGSM has two campuses; one in Sydney CBD and one at North Ryde on the periphery of Macquarie University and participants can choose to study at either or both locations

Strong Industry Links

Strong links with industry, through collaborative research, consulting projects and an Alumni Advisory Council comprising respected business leaders, ensure that MGSM programs are well recognised and meet the specific needs of industry.

The commitment of the School to excellence in research and the development of strong industry links, ensures the most up-to-date and pertinent information is covered in our programs and activities.

Excellent Client Service and Student Support

MGSM's people first philosophy is reflected in the high levels of customer service and support provided to students, including a team of dedicated Student Service Officers and Program Coordinators.

For postgraduate students, there is a comprehensive student intranet and a series of workshops conducted by MGSM at the beginning of each intake to assist students in managing the demands of postgraduate study.

First Class Venue and Facilities

MGSM has two conveniently located and easily accessible campuses in Sydney.  The well-appointed campus at Macquarie Park in North Ryde, just 15kms northwest of the Sydney CBD and only 20kms from Sydney airport, offers ample parking and easy access from the M2. The CBD Campus is located in the centre of the financial district and close to bus, train and ferry routes.

Both venues comprise modern teaching facilities, dedicated networked computer laboratories, syndicate rooms and catering facilities.  The Macquarie Park venue features a 4-star hotel, dining rooms, bar and restaurant.

Accreditation

MGSM has received EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) international accreditation by the European Foundation for Management Development (efmd).

Leading business schools in Europe to have gained EQUIS accreditation include INSEAD and London Business School. To achieve full EQUIS accreditation, business schools must be able to demonstrate that they satisfy quality criteria in three equally important areas:

  • High international standards of quality in all areas
  • A significant level of internationalisation
  • The needs of the corporate world are well integrated into programs, activities and processes

The review team assessed MGSM on its national standing, mission, governance, scope, strategy, resources, faculty, students, student services, personal development, programs and research.

UNICON was established in 1972, initially as an informal common interest group of executive education program directors.  The group soon evolved into an incorporated, not-for-profit organisation with a commitment to the development of university-sponsored executive education.

With a key mission to promote executive education and foster its continued development, UNICON has become the pre-eminent voice for management and executive education and development worldwide.

Members of UNICON include Harvard, Stanford, Cambridge and many other leading business schools worldwide.

Candidate organisations must meet the rigorous requirements of UNICON's membership criteria.  Only those organisations with the necessary resources, management structure and highly credible track record in the development and delivery of executive education are selected.

MGSM is delighted to be included amongst the elite UNICON membership.
