Stephen Bevan, Director of the Work Foundation: The Knowledge Economy - Are We Bright Enough to Survive?

Stephen Bevan is Director of Research at The Work Foundation. He holds a degree in Management from Aston University Business School and a Postgraduate Degree in Education from the University of London. He is responsible for the delivery of a programme of both applied and frontier research on the world of work.

With a team of 10 researchers, he oversees a programme of over 20 research studies each year, each designed to enhance the UK's evidence-base and to inform the climate of policy debate in the UK's Boardrooms and in Whitehall. He joined The Work Foundation in 2002 after a 19 year career at The Institute for Employment Studies (IES) at the University of Sussex.

Stephen has carried out research & consultancy for the No. 10 Policy Unit, The Prime Minister's Office for Public Services Reform (OPSR), HM Treasury, the Cabinet Office and the European Commission. He has also worked for many 'blue-chip' employers and several research councils and charitable trusts. He has conducted several studies among Small Businesses, examining their business and employment practices. He has published his work widely and is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars.
