Projects & Partnerships

Partnership with Australian Hostels Association

For three years I was the principal researcher on an External Collaborative grant (with Associate Professor Julian Leslie) on the best way to treat and assist problem gamblers in Australia. The partner was the Australian Hotels Association (NSW) and involved the biggest survey of its kind involving self-excluded gamblers in the Australia. The results were published in a report.

Partnership with Fast Impressions

I currently am the principal researcher an External Collaborative Grant (with Associate Professor Julian Leslie) on how to better match couples who go speed dating. The partner is the multi-national Fast Impressions who are keen to use statistics to help resolve this very important social issue – what attracts men and women to each other.

Courses

Information and Decision Analysis

This unit is an introduction to decision technology and its application in the firm.  The unit covers introductory quantitative skills, data analysis and the development of computer modelling analyses for both strategic planning and tactical decision-making.  It also covers the efficient use of computing resources to enhance the effectiveness of management.

Applied Business Techniques

This is a continuation of the course MGSM960 Information and Decision Analysis.  The topics covered promote a deeper understanding of scientific method and how it can be applied to the problems of business, industry and government.  It achieves this by modern case studies and using selected specific modelling tools and techniques.

Quantitative Research Methods

The overall aim of this course is to enable you to understand the contribution that quantitative analysis can make in research.  It provides a working ability at computing and data skills required for the DBA level and an appreciation of data analysis within a doctoral thesis.
