Ask most successful managers how they learned to lead and they'll tell you that the majority of their learning occurred on-the-job, by actually leading. MGSM’s Leadership Development Program helps you to develop and put into action a personalised and timely plan to build your leadership capability on-the-job.
In recent years a new view of leadership has emerged, one that better accounts for leadership performance. This integrated view of leadership provides an understanding of the dynamics of leadership - the ways in which leadership is gained, maintained and challenged. The Leadership Development Program uses the latest research into leadership and career development to help you gain and maintain leadership and effectively deal with the challenges.
Each program will have guest speakers who have taken the leadership journey and have a deep understanding of the practice of leadership.
Self Leadership
Leadership is something that can be learned and applied systematically. Developing as a leader is an active and disciplined process. The program uses self-awareness tools and activities to help you in an exploration of your goals, motivations, attitudes and capabilities. Each has an impact on the impressions you create in others and their perceptions of you as a leader. You will learn strategies for personal development which ties program experiences to the context of your workplace. The program and your development plan will be unique to you and the specific challenges you face as a leader.
Influence and Power
The program provides practical insights into how leaders derive power. For some, this may be positional power. Others gain power through their expertise, network or personal charisma. You’ll learn and plan stakeholder management, influencing strategies and network building.
Leading a High Performing Team
As a leader, you understand that your ability to deliver results depends upon your ability to engage with your team. This session covers engagement strategies, individual and team performance management, team motivation and developing team capability.
Leading Change
Leadership is about improvement and change. The program provides an understanding of the psychology of change and the leaders role in effecting positive change. You’ll learn the 5 leading drivers of change that recent research has uncovered that help a leader to predict resistance, build change readiness, hasten and maintain change adoption.
The Leadership Development Program will be of particular interest to high potential managers being groomed for larger roles and who are seeking to enhance their leadership, influencing and communication skills.
