Research statement

Dr Bian mainly focuses on Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in operations and supply chain management, as well as the interfaces with quantitative marketing and industrial economics.  His work has been published in journals such as International Journal of Production Economics, Annals of Operations Research and Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review.

Contribution to management education

Dr Bian has been adopting interactive teaching approaches to enlighten students and make them highly active in class.  He always encourages students to link knowledge to practical applications, which has significantly facilitated class interactions and engagement.

Contribution to management practice

Dr. Bian’s research focuses on the applications of theory to practice by unveiling the rationale behind business practice such as the effects of various CSR and sustainability decisions, how other practices such as information sharing and service outsourcing affect firms’ profitability.
