Research statement

Dr. Miles Yang’s research focuses the micro foundations of strategic decisions and the macro performance consequences. The strategic decisions include organizational goal-setting, organizational control systems, innovation decisions, reflection interventions and organizational learning. The performance consequences cover a wide range of topics such as organizational performance, unethical behaviour and managerial responses. His research has been published in several prestigious journals including Organization Science, Journal of Business and Psychology, and System Dynamics Review.

Contribution to Management Practice

Dr Miles Yang’s research outcomes have helped organizations in setting organizational goals and designing appropriate behavioral control system.  He has worked on an ARC Linkage project partnering with BlueScope Steel and Ports Australia addressing issues of innovation management under a high-risk business environment. Prior to his academic career, he worked in a number of industry organisations in positions such as Research Engineer, Project Manager, Columnist, Business Consultant & Facilitator, and Strategy Development Specialist during 2001-2009.
