MGSM Career Services provides a number of initiatives to help students make important decisions about their career. At the beginning of the study, students have access to the Strategic Career Development Framework, which offers a clear structure to guide students through their career development journey.
The Framework will be delivered via the following methods:
- Personalised careers coaching sessions with our expert and professional career coaches, who will help unlock your potential through increased awareness of your strongest motivators and interests, transferable skills and personal values, leading to career satisfaction and success.
- Career development workshops and seminars, e.g., Career Navigation Series and etc.
- Skills-based workshops, such as LinkedIn workshops and etc.
- Students undertaking effective self-assessment tools when necessary.
The purpose of the framework is to help students develop an individualised action plan to achieve the career they want.
One-to-one Career Coaching Sessions
Career coaching facilitates learning – how to unlock your potential through increased awareness of your strongest motivators and interests, transferable skills and personal values, leading to career satisfaction and success. To compete effectively in today’s ever-changing marketplace, successful candidates must not only match their competencies, personal strengths, values and achievements to their career – they must also know how to promote them. Qualifications alone will not result in a new job or advancement in their career.
Career coaching is available on Tuesdays at Macquarie Park campus and on Wednesdays at CBD campus.
BENEFITS AND OUTCOMES OF CAREER COACHING

- Reviewing the resume with a focus on value proposition
- Developing a marketing strategy that includes approaching the advertised and the non-advertised job market
- Creating a networking strategy and then a plan to help build “your brand”
- Coaching in how to pass interviews (behavioural, traditional and case study interviews)
